John George Auld
1863 to 1913
-----------

John George Auld was the eldest son of Alexander and Catherine Auld (m.s. Wares). He was born on the 22nd December 1863 in Louisburg, Wick.

He married Jane Fraser on the 19th January 1895 at 49 Belmont Street, Aberdeen, "according to the Forms etc. of the Church of Scotland". He was a bachelor aged 29, of 82 Wark (Park?) Street, Aberdeen, and his occupation was shown as 'stonecutter, journeyman'. Jane was a spinster, aged 28, of 15 Northfield Place, Aberdeen daughter of Joseph Fraser, crofter, and Margaret Laird (Baird?). Jane was a domestic servant. Witness at the marriage were John Georgeson and John Aiken.

John Georgeson was John's cousin, their mothers being sisters.

Before her marriage Jane was shown in the 1881 census as a 15 year old 'Domestic Servant' working for Peter Laing, a farmer, and wife , May, at Sunny Brae, Tough, Aberdeen.

.....................

They had a son, Alexander, who was born at 12 Links Road, Aberdeen on the 9th March 1896 but no record of any other children.

It is most probable that Alexander died on the 7th November 1918, aged 22. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission show that a Private A. Auld, No; S/9563, 1st Bn. Gordon Highlanders died on that day and was buried in Peterhead Cemetery, Aberdeenshire. There is no indication as to his age, the cause of death or next of kin. The latter could be explained by the fact that both his parents were dead by this time.

Jane died at 35 Queen Street, Aberdeen on the 19th May 1910. Her Death Certificate shows her full name as Jane Fyfe Auld.
John died at the same address on the 4th November 1913
