Francis Curtis was the son of Francis Curtis and Susanna Birt born about 1747/8 most probably in Toft Monks, Norfolk. Francis, a widower, and Susanna, aged 29, both of Toft Monks, were married in Haddiscore on the 22nd July 1745.

They had at least four children between 1746 and 1756. Sarah; Francis; Robert and James

Their son, Francis, married Elizabeth Farrow, aged 24 from Belton, Norfolk, in Aldeby on the 20th September 1778.

They had about eleven children;
