David Oal was the second son of Alexander Oal and Margaret Murray born on the 27th December 1820.

The following appears in the Register of Baptisms for Wick;-

OALL - Alexander Oall, weaver, in Killimster had by his wife Margaret Murray a son born Dec. 27th 1820 bapt January 5th 1821 named David.
Wit. Alexr. Murray, farm servant, and Jno. Oal, weaver, Killimster
