Frederick Bullock Curtis
1836 - 1919

Hannah Elizabeth Curtis was the youngest child of Frederick Bullock Curtis and his wife, Rebecca Josephine Cooper. She was born in Wreningham, Norfolk on the 25th May 1870.

Frederick had married Rebecca, a 22 year old National Schoolmistress, in Wreningham on the 23rd December 1858. He was the son of James Curtis and Hannah Bullock and born in Wymondham in 1836.
Rebecca was the daughter of Manning Cooper, a fellmonger in King's Lynn, and his wife, Elizabeth Shelton, and had been born on the 10th October 1833 in Jews Lane, Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

Frederick was described on the Marriage Certificate as a 'Glazier' and subsequently as a 'Painter'. Rebecca was a 'National Schoolmistress' in Wreningham at the time of her marriage.

There were six other children in the family -

3. Albert Bullock - Born about August 1864
4. Alfred Bullock - Born about August 1864
5. Frederick John Shelton - Born about January 1867
6. Frederick Walter - Born about April 1868

Rebecca died in Wreningham on the 12th March 1882, aged 48.

Frederick died at The Lodge, Bowthorpe Road, Norwich on the 30th October 1919, aged 82.

Additional information

1. Evangeline Rebecca married Edward Joseph Scully, a 26 year old Newspaper Reporter, in London in April 1889. In 1891 they were living at 31 Hanover Gardens, Lambeth. Also in the house was 8 year old Reginald C. Scully shown as 'son'. It is possible that Reginald was a son by an earlier marriage.
In 1901 Edward and Evangeline were living at 54 Tower Hamlets Road, West Ham. There is no record of the 18 year Reginald in the 1901 census
Evangeline died in London about September 1905 and Edward died in Wokingham, Berks on the 7th March 1936.

2. James Manning married Florence (maiden name unknown) in Norfolk in about May 1887. Earlier, in 1881, James was working as a footman at Margate Hall, Bracon Ash, Norfolk, the home of Edmund Lacon, a Banker.
In 1891 James, now a Railway Labourer, and his wife were living in Town Green, Wymondham with their 4 year old daughter, Ivy
No further information about this family.

3. Albert Bullock - Died in King's Lynn area in about March 1866.

5. Frederick John Shelton died as a baby in 1867.

6. Frederick Walter as a 3 year old was living with his aunt, Hannah Adcock, in 19 Baptist Road, Kings Lynn. Ten years later he was with his blind elderly grandmother, Elizabeth Gardiner in St. James's Road, Kings Lynn.
He married Minnie Maud Warren in Norfolk in about September 1897. In 1901 they were living in 42 St. Leonards Road, Norfolk. Frederick was working as a Railway Blacksmith. A son Frederick Walter was born in 1908.
Minnie died in 1919 and Frederick in 1950.
