Manning Cooper

Manning Cooper was born about 1782 but no firm details of parents or place are available.
He married Elizabeth Shelton, born in Bedworth, Warwickshire in about 1801, in St. John's Church, Coventry on the 8th July, 1822.

It is possible that this could be Manning's second marriage. The register for St. John's Church, Coventry shows a marriage between a Manning Cooper and Ann Mallett on the 9th June 1817. There is no further information.

In 1841 Manning and Elizabeth were living in Jews Lane, King's Lynn. Manning was variously described as a 'Fellmonger' ('one who removes hair or wool from hides in preparation for leather making') or 'Tanner'. They had four children all born in King's Lynn and christened in St. Margaret's Church

Rebecca Josephine born 10th October 1833

Manning died in St. Anne's Street, King's Lynn about the 25th February 1847 and buried at St. Margaret's on the 1st March.

Elizabeth married again in about March 1851. Her second husband was Walter Gardener, a 65 year old sailmaker from Sunderland, County Durham. In 1851 they lived at 26, Austin Street, Kings Lynn together with Elizabeth's three daughters. Ten years later Walter and Elizabeth were living in Yard Board Street, King's Lynn

Walter most probably died in 1864 but not confirmed. Elizabeth died in about March 1894, aged 92.

Manning must have died before the 1841 census but no confirmation as yet.

Hannah Shelton married William Adcock in about September 1855. William was born in Sutton-on-Trent in September 1833.
In 1861 they were living in Tilney, St.Lawrence, Norfolk with their 4 year old daughter Elizabeth.
Ten years later Hannah, an engine driver's wife, was at 19 Baptist Road, King's Lynn with her daughter. There were two visitors staying - 3 year old Frederick Walter Curtis, a nephew from Wreningham and 2 year old Sarah Dawson, also from Wreningham. William was not at home for this census.
Hannah died in about March 1881 aged 52.
William was lodging with William Horsley's family at 6 Gladstone Road, King's Lynn in 1891 and died in about June 1899 aged 65.

Martha Rose married Abraham Miller, born in Terrington, Norfolk, in about June 1853. In 1861 they were living at 12 Chadwick Street, South Lynn with their two children Walter(1854) and Rebecca Shelton(1858).
By 1871 they were living at 4, Kirby Street, King's Lynn and ten years later they were in Cemetery Road, East Dereham this time with two other daughters - Mary Ann (1867) and Martha Edith (1869).
Abraham and Martha's last home in 1901 was in Terrington Road, Tilney, All Saints.
Over the years Abraham was described as Carpenter and Police Officer; Commission Agent and Publisher's Agent.
Martha died in 1902 aged 70 and Abraham in 1903 aged 78.
